Lunar New Year, also called the Spring Festival in China, is an important traditional festival celebrated by Asian cultures throughout the world. It is a time to complete unfinished business and settle debts to begin the New Year with a clean slate.
The Christmas Island: Year of the Ox stamp issue produced by Australia Post celebrates this event with a series of collectibles : limited edition stamp packs, gold minisheets and medallion collections.

Aimed at serious collectors, the gold minisheet featured a graphic rendition of the lucky number “888”, with small versions of the Year of the Ox stamps forming part of each figure eight.
A limited edition of 888 minisheets were produced – they’re all sold out now, but you can buy later editions.
How was it made?
Details are etched into a block, forming delicate grooves, then sandwiched between acetate and embossed.
Red ink is overprinted and individually numbered (see the last image).
