Why is a logo like a love affair?

Illustration of a heart with the word ‘Logo’ repeated within the shape

1: The Honeymoon phase.

In the beginning, it’s all sunshine and roses and possibilities, ie. the ‘research’ or ‘ideas’ phase of designing a logo.

2: Getting to know you.

After a while you learn more about the other person. In design terms, this is when you throw out ideas that aren’t working and resolve the final concepts.

3: Moving in.

Date a for a few years and move in together?

Translation : the client takes a look, there’s some back-and-forth with the chosen concept until you have a brand spanking new identity.

4: Dogs, Plants & Marriages.

If you still like your logo after, say, five years, you’re in for the long haul. Get married. Buy a dog. Start a plant collection.

Happy Valentine’s Day all…
