Braille Neue: A typeface that combines Braille and visible characters

Braille Neue in a subway

Designed by Kosuke Takahashi, the typeface combines Braille with existing alphabet characters.

It is thus able to communicate to sighted and blind people equally. Plus, the characters include both English and Japanese character sets.

It calls to mind a quote from Edward De Bono’s book ‘Serious Creativity’ — “Any valuable creative idea must always be logical in hindsight”.

This typeface qualifies, don’t you think?

It’s almost worth planning a trip to the 2020 Tokyo Olympics, to see it in real life. Who’s with us?
