Google updates its Emoji

Android Emoji

The press release states the re-design focused on ‘making them more universal, accessible and authentic’.

The update was conveniently announced on World Emoji Day (WED) on 17 July 2021.

Didn’t know about WED? Neither did we.

We particularly like the updated bikini, tent, pie and coconut. It’s interesting to see that some are similar to the Apple iOS – great for cross-platform recognition. Others, such as the camping icon, change from day to night depending on your local time.

The new emoji will be available across all Google platforms, including Android, Gmail, Chat, Chrome OS and YouTube, rolling out over the next few months.
