Founded in 2014 by Mark Bergin, founder of DRIVENxDESIGN, the Design Exec Club are a global network of design professionals who share a unified passion for a better future. Their goal is to address the needs of design executives and champion design excellence within all organisations.
“Fiona Brand expertly took a complex, layered brief and produced an elegant flexible response. I couldn’t be happier entrusting this project with her.
From the first work I’d seen from Fiona she exhibited mastery in making the complex appear simple, elegant and understandable.”
DRIVENxDESIGN’s programs award both the creator and the commissioner, something quite unusual in this category. For its club of thinkers, designers and executives, the identity needed to acknowledge the importance of a team built from different types of people. The creative brief was just three phrases. In Mark’s words, “I’d like it to look good on a sign. I like the Swiss (International) aesthetic. I want it to look AMAZING in black.”
Solution
Taking inspiration from the original DRIVENxDESIGN mark, our solution was to develop a unique, flexible identity that acknowledged each group equally. The ‘executive’ is symbolised by the circular ‘boardroom table’, while ‘industry’ and ‘design’ are represented by interconnected versions of the same icon. Supporting the mark is a bold sans-serif font plus a flexible system of layout combinations that allow for a multitude of placements.
